What is roster.so?

roster.so is a curated directory of the world's best designers. Unlike open portfolios or job boards, every designer on roster is hand-selected. Companies use roster to discover proven design talent; designers use it for visibility.

Roster features designers across six disciplines: Product Design (UI/UX, digital products), Brand Design (identity, visual systems), Graphic Design (print, typography, editorial), Design Engineering (design + code), Motion Design (animation, video, 3D) and the roles of Directors (VP, Head of Design, Founding Designers). Most design directories focus on visuals. Roster.so takes the opposite approach: we value where designers work and what they contribute.

The key differences:

• Curated — Every designer is hand-picked
• People — roster focuses on the designer as a professional, including their career history and companies

Companies use roster as a starting point for hiring. Instead of posting jobs and waiting, or scrolling through thousands of unvetted portfolios, they can:

• Search by role — Filter for product designers, brand designers, motion designers, etc.
• Filter by company — Find designers with experience at specific companies
• Browse by location — Discover designers in specific cities or regions
• Post open roles — Paid placements put hiring needs directly in front of the roster audience

Every designer profile links directly to their portfolio, so evaluation happens on their terms.

roster offers two placement tiers for companies:

• In-feed ($129) — Your role appears between designer listings for 30 days
• Featured ($249) — Premium carousel position at the top of the page for 30 days

You can submit your portfolio for review. The review process takes 24 hours. Not every submission is accepted, roster maintains strict curation standards.

Absolutely. Roster.so is built to be AI and agent-friendly. The directory is accessible via a public API and an MCP server for direct integration with Claude Desktop and other AI tools.
